what is the electronic cigarette?
Electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette as others call it, is a revolutionized and safer alternative to smoked tobacco products which actually looks, feels, and tastes like the traditional tobacco cigarette except that it does not contain tobacco, does not emit smoke, and non-flammable because it is a battery operated device.
It was first created in Beijing, China in the year 2003 by Hon Lik who invented this device after his father who was a heavy smoker and died because of lung cancer. In 2006 it was introduced to several countries in Europe and United States of America. Currently, the product is now being sold and used almost worldwide. Millions of people got attracted and switched to electronic cigarette, mostly with or without the intention of quitting smoking, because it is a much safer way or substitute than the tobacco products in the market.
how does the e cigarette work?
An electronic cigarette is composed of 3 basic parts: atomizer, cartridge, and battery.
The cartridge is the electronic cigarette’s “butt” which contains liquid mixture in it that gives flavor to the device.The cartridge is connected to the atomizer which is a heating device that is needed to turn the liquid in the cartridge to vaporize and emit the smoke-like vapor. The other end of the atomizer is connected to the battery which gives power to the e cigarette.On the tip, there is a LED light that turns on as an indicator when the device is in use. When all these parts are assembled, it nearly looks identical like a tobacco cigarette.
To explain further, the e cig creates vapor by slightly heating a liquid mixture in the cartridge. The mixture contains proplyene glycol (PG), glycerin, water, flavoring and nicotine (or no nicotine content since one can choose desired nicotine level from full to none). The vapor looks and acts much like the smoke produced by tobacco cigarettes that can be inhaled and exhaled like in the traditional smoking way.
